- More than 180 girls, boys and adolescents will meet in November in Rio de Janeiro to talk about their practices of leading participation and how to influence to change their reality.
- Groups of girls and boys from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay, representatives of the REDLAMYC National Coalitions of the southern cone, will participate.
The National Coalitions of the southern cone, members of @REDLAMYC, the Latin American and Caribbean Network for the Defense of Children and Adolescents, through the #TejiendoRedesInfancia project, will hold a meeting from November 15 to 18, 2018 in the city of Rio de Janeiro of girls, boys and adolescents from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.
More than 180 girls, boys and adolescents will share and analyze their experiences and good practices of protagonist participation at the subregional level developed together with the 10 coalitions of the Southern Subregion of REDLAMYC.
The Meeting organized in Brazil, the National Forum for the Defense of Children and Adolescents - DCA Forum, accompanied by the National Articulation of the Centers for the Defense of Children and Adolescents - ANCED and the National Movement for Human Rights - MNDH, seeks to strengthen the actions of incidence at the subregional level of boys and girls as well as of the National Coalitions of the southern cone.
According to Marcia Carvalho, Coordinator of the DCA National Forum and the local Organizing Commission, the Encounter «It will make possible a space for the exchange of participatory experiences in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, in addition to sharing the current situation of children and adolescents in each of the countries of the southern subregion. Here we have the largest cases of adolescent pregnancy, child labor, sexual exploitation and murder of children and adolescents on the entire continent. "
The event is part of the #TejiendoRedesInfancia project co-financed by the European Union and carried out by REDLAMYC and aims to build a timeline that makes it possible to make visible the advocacy spaces where girls, boys and adolescents participate, agree on the main issues they consider to be priorities and generate a plan of action.
The Meeting will have the participation of the Estácio de Sá Samba School, which in a playful and cultural way will support children to find ways to communicate their proposed solutions for the biggest problems they face today. The Southern Sub-Region has common challenges that affect children and adolescents, such as combating poverty, violence, inequality, lack of housing and basic sanitation, homicides, street children, child labor, abuse and sexual exploitation among others.
